Tim Brunson DCH

Welcome to The International Hypnosis Research Institute Web site. Our intention is to support and promote the further worldwide integration of comprehensive evidence-based research and clinical hypnotherapy with mainstream mental health, medicine, and coaching. We do so by disseminating, supporting, and conducting research, providing professional level education, advocating increased level of practitioner competency, and supporting the viability and success of clinical practitioners. Although currently over 80% of our membership is comprised of mental health practitioners, we fully recognize the role, support, involvement, and needs of those in the medical and coaching fields. This site is not intended as a source of medical or psychological advice. Tim Brunson, PhD

Adele Ryan McDowell, PhD

Adele Ryan McDowell, Ph.D., is a psychologist, teacher and healer who blends psychospiritual, vibrational and intuitive energies. She works with individuals and groups in a synergistic fashion and acts as a channel for divine input, be it energies or information.

Dr. McDowell has been trained as a transpersonal, cognitive-behavioral psychologist who specializes in addiction, abuse, anxiety, depression, transitional shifts, trauma, health crises, death and dying, existential questions of life and other intensities.

For 12 years, she served as the founder/director of The Greenheart Center, a holistic, psychoeducational, psychotherapeutic center in Stamford, CT, where she taught courses on meditation, mind-body medicine, intuition development, creativity and spirituality. Adele also created "Faithwalk™: A Psychospiritual Approach to Transformation."

Within the tristate area, Dr. McDowell has presented or served on panels at AAUW (American Association of University Women), the American Institute of Hypnotherapy-Psychotherapy, the CADAC Institute of Addictions, Convent of the Sacred Heart, Gilda's Club, Greenwich Hospital, Manhattanville College, National Philoptochus and Temple Beth-El to name a few.

Since 1999, Adele has been a recurrent workshop presenter in the UK on such topics as Faithwalk™, symbology, shamanism and healing. As a result of one of her shamanic workshops, Adele was asked to teach her methodologies for connecting and traveling to the other realms. In response, she developed The Institute for the Study of Symbolic and Shamanic Energies (ISSSE), a three-year mystery school devoted to spiritual and energetic development.

In 2007, listening to Spirit (after two prior years of trying to negotiate a-keep-the-practice-and-do-the-other-work bargain with the Gods), Adele closed her clinical practice to pursue more of the energetic and spiritual aspects of her work.

In her new work, the psychology does not get forgotten, but it is expanded to include the permutations of the psyche, the mystery of the sacred, the paths of energy and a broader, soul perspective.
