Terence T. Gorski



Terence T. Gorski is an internationally recognized expert on substance abuse, mental health, violence, and crime. He is best known for his contributions to relapse prevention, managing chemically dependent offenders, and developing community-based teams for managing the problems of alcohol, drugs, violence, and crime. He has extensive experience working with employee assistance programs (EAP) and has special expertise in working with emergency professionals including fire, medical, and law enforcement. Allen E. Ivey, EdD



Dr. Allen Ivey, best known for his "microcounseling" model received his bachelors degree from Stanford University in 1955 and spent a year as a Fulbright student at the University of Copenhagen, Denmark in 1955-56. In 1959 he received his doctorate from Harvard University in counseling and guidance. Dr. Ivey is current Distinguished University Professor in the School and Counseling Psychology Program at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst. He has authored of co-authored approximately 200 articles and books, translated into 11 languages. Dr. Ivey's most recent work is in "developmental counseling and therapy" which focuses on how to integrate developmental theory into clinical and counseling practice.

J. William Worden PhD ABPP



Dr. Worden's clinical and research interests are in the area of health psychology, with a special focus on life-threatening illness and life-threatening behavior. At Massachusetts General Hospital he has directed four major N.I.H. funded research projects on the subjects of suicide, terminal illness care, the psychology of cancer, and bereavement. His primary therapy interest is the application of gestalt psychotherapy to individuals, couples, and groups.

Judith Belmont, MS, LPC



Judy Belmont, M.S., LPC has been a psychotherapist, wellness speaker and workplace wellness consultant for 35 years. Bradley T. Erford, PhD



Bradley T. Erford, Ph.D., LCPC, NCC, LPC, LP, LSP, was the 2012-2013 President of the American Counseling Association (ACA) and a professor in the school counseling program of the Education Specialties Department in the School of Education at Loyola University Maryland. He has authored or edited more than 15 books. His research specialization falls primarily in development and technical analysis of psycho-educational tests and outcomes research and has resulted in the publication of several dozen refereed journal articles, more than 100 book chapters, and ten published tests. Gerald Corey PhD



Gerald Corey is Professor Emeritus of Human Services at California State University at Fullerton; a Diplomate in Counseling Psychology, American Board of Professional Psychology; a licensed psychologist; a National Certified Counselor; a Fellow of the American Psychological Association (Counseling Psychology); a Fellow of the American Counseling Association; and a Fellow of the Association for Specialists in Group Work. Dr. Corey taught undergraduate and graduate courses in group counseling, as well as courses in experiential groups, the theory and practice of counseling, and ethics in counseling. He is the author or co-author of 15 counseling textbooks currently in print and numerous journal articles. Along with his wife, Marianne Schneider Corey, Dr. Corey has conducted group counseling training workshops for mental health professionals at many universities in the United States, Canada, Mexico, China, Hong Kong, Korea, Germany, Belgium, Scotland, England, and Ireland. The two received the Association for Specialists in Group Work's Eminent Career Award in 2001. Dr. Corey earned his doctorate in counseling from the University of Southern California.

H. Norman Wright is a licensed Marriage, Family and Child Therapist. He has taught in the Graduate Department of Biola University. He was former director of the Graduate Department of Marriage, Family and Child Counseling at Biola University, as well as an Associate Professor of Psychology.

C. Wayne Perry, PhD



Dr. Perry is the MFT Director of Clinical Training at Northcentral University. He has more than 40 years of experience as a clinician and 20 years of experience as a supervisor. He focuses on research and advocates the use of the Internet to aid the delivery of quality supervision for students in clinical training programs.

Edna B. Foa PhD



Dr. Foa is an Isreali professor of clinical psychology at the University of Pennsylvania. There she as the Director of the Center for the Treatment and Study of Anxiety. She is an internationally renowned authority on the psychopathology and treatment of anxiety. She approaches the understanding and treatment of mental disorders from a congnitive-based perspective. Her research, aimed at determining the causes and treatments of anxiety disorders, has been extremely influential. She is considered an expert in post-traumatic stress disorders (PTSD) and obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).

Garrett Buttel, MA, CH



Garrett Buttel, MA, CH, is the Board Certified Director of the Monmouth Hypnosis Center in Middletown, NJ. Garrett has lived in New Jersey all his life. After being discharged from the Air Force in 1971, he accepted a position as Veterans Counselor on Campus and spent many years helping Vietnam Veterans and their dependents.

This experience sparked an interest in further developing his counseling skills and he returned to college to obtain an advanced degree in counseling. Garrett spent many years counseling and helping incompetent veterans and their families.

Lyn W. Freeman PhD, LPC



Dr. Freeman earned her degree in psychology with an emphasis in mind-body therapies (i.e., meditation, relaxation, and imagery) as medical intervention for chronic disease. In 2006, she completed a Phase I study of imagery as intervention with women recovering from breast cancer treatment. This National Institutes of Health/National Cancer Institute-funded study produced statistically and clinically significant improvements in quality of life, mood state and functionality.

In 2007, Dr. Freeman and Mind Matters Research were awarded a TREND grant to test videoconference technology for delivery of mind-body treatments at remote locations with limited bandwidth. Technology was also tested for its presentation of 'human qualities' (e.g., voice tone, skin tone, pupil dilation) and the sense of the trainer's presence. The grant was completed in November, 2007. Outcomes were submitted as pilot data for a Phase II, National Cancer Institute grant on imagery as intervention for breast cancer survivors. In the Phase II NCI grant, imagery training will be delivered both in person, and live via videoconference. Outcomes will be compared between these groups, as well as compared to waitlist control groups.

Marilyn Luber PhD



Dr. Luber has been practicing Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) since 1992. She is an author and the editor of two books on EMDR. Peter A. Levine, PhD

Maxwell Maltz, MD



Dr. Maltz was an American cosmetic surgeon. He authored Pscho-Cybernetics in 1960. His book contained a system of ideas that he claimed could improve a person's self-image and lead to a more successful and fulfilling life. He influenced many subsequent self-help instructors and helped develop the self-help genre. Dr. Maltz died in 1975.

Jacob Bimblich



Jacob Bimblich is a Life Member of the National Psychiatric Association, and a Fellow and Charter Member of the Academy of Scientific Hypnotherapy for his meritorious contributions to hypnotherapy. He was also past president of the New York Society for Ethical Hypnosis. For the past 17 years he has been a faculty member of the National Guild of Hypnotists. Solomon M. Fulero, PhD, JD



Dr. Fulero was Professor and former Chair of the Psychology Department at Sinclair College in Dayton, Ohio. He received his PhD in social psychology in August 1979, and his JD (law) in December 1979, both from the University of Oregon. He received a respecialization certificate in clinical psychology, with an APA-approved internship, from Wright State University, in 1988. Dr. Fulero was both a licensed psychologist and a practicing attorney. He was a frequent consultant to attorneys on a wide variety of psychology and law issues, including eyewitness reliability, false confessions, and a variety of other matters.

Professor Fulero died April 29, 2011, at the age of 60.

Another area that Sharon Forrest is a forerunner is in the field of Psychoneuroimmunology, the correlation between the mind, the immune and other systems of the body. Rev. Dr. C. Scot Giles



Rev. Dr. Giles holds his Bachelor's and Master's Degrees from the University of Connecticut, Magna Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa. He holds his Doctor of Ministry Degree from Meadville/Lombard Theological School at the University of Chicago With Highest Distinction and two academic prizes.

He is a Board Certified Chaplain, representing years of additional training in the pastoral arts and the passing of a rigorous examination. This is the most widely recognized credential for clergy who work as health professionals.

He is a graduate and faculty member of a state-licensed hypnotism school and have thousands of hours of advanced hypnotism training.

Rev. Dr. Giles sits on the Advisory Board of the National Guild of Hypnotists, and has won its highest awards, including the North Award for Lifetime Achievement, the President's Award, and the Hypnosis Research Award. He has been inducted into the Order of James Braid, the international honor society for hypnotism. He ranks as a Certified Instructor and Diplomate of the National Guild of Hypnotists which are the highest levels of recognition that can be earned. He has also received recognition for his work from prominent community groups such as the Volunteer Center for North Suburban Chicago and Wellness House of Hinsdale, Illinois.

He is the author of the curriculum used by the National Guild of Hypnotists to train hypnotists to do medical hypnotism in the United States, Great Britain and Canada.

He is a Unitarian Universalist community minister, authorized to work with people of all religious backgrounds by one of the oldest Protestant denominations in America.
